Description:

Ever thought of getting into the pleasure of Black Powder shooting?

Well, here's your chance to acquire and use a “smoke pole” pretty much straight away with only Black Powder and Large Rifle Primers extra to buy, and without the hassle of acquiring all the other necessary and seperate bits and pieces. I’ve done the work for you and I now offer it all for sale in one lot.

For the money I’m asking you'll get the following:

An 1871 steel-barrelled breech loading Mk III .577” Snider-Enfield in good condition given its age of 151 years, checked and approved by my local gunsmith - probably an officer’s private purchase, as it has all the right Tower stampings, but no regimental cartouche - with nice, if battered, fiddle-grained wood furniture, an armourer repaired cleaning rod and a period correct leather sling,

Lee .577” reloading dies - and a spare one made by an engineering metalsmith for me before I bought the Lee set when it came available,

A Buffalo Arms ~485g bullet casting mould at .590” with three bore-cleaning lube channels and a nice hardwood hammer to work the sprue cutter,

A Lee Mark IV infinitely variable temperature lead melting pot with safety pouring spigot and shut off valve,

100 Bertram .577” brass cases, ~80 unfired, the others perhaps twice. Rebel Gun Sales has them listed at $7.50 for each case - but out of stock,

~120 Magtech 24gauge brass shot-shells, accurately turned down to 2”, again mostly unfired and some fired quite a lot, but with plenty of reloads left in them,

A case length gauge,

68 already cast projectiles, as the weight won’t add too much to the transport costs,

A tin of Cream of Milk, to top up the cases before inserting the bullet,

2 x home-made but-they-do-the-job wooden reloading trays,

Ian Skennerton’s authoritative tome “.577 Snider-Enfield Rifles & Carbines”, and

A considerable number of pages of information, how-tos and technical data on Black Powder reloading generally and Snider-Enfields in particular, bullet casting and safety,

For a buyer within cooee of the Sunshine Coast who can collect them, I’ll throw in ~½ a kilo of Black Powder, 2 Kg of quite clean smelted lead ingots, a large lead melting pot, a slag skimmer and a lead ladle. Extra 1Kg lead ingots @ $3/kilo available, too.

Buyer to pay transfer and freight costs of approximately $100 to anywhere in Australia except WA. Any insurance required at buyers cost, too.

Happy shooting!
