Description:
For sale is a Savage 99a in .308 Winchester. This model has the tang safety, the rotary magazine counter window and factory drilled and tapped for scope mounts.
Rifle is mechanically sound, everything works as it should, but is a little rough on the outside but could easily be cleaned up and made to look good. Woodwork could do with a refinish but there are no major scratches or gouges and could be used as is. Also, there are no cracks in the wood, as you often see in older Savage 99s. There is wear on the blueing and some patches where there has previously been rust but no major pitting and it would clean up and re-blue well. The bore has sharp rifling, and is mostly shiny, but there are a lot of marks and scratches in the bore. Still shoots well and has a lot of life left but just isn't 'pretty'.
I bought this rifle, as is, and was going to clean it up and use it, but I have since acquired another Savage 99, in .358Win, and there is just no place in my gun-safe for both of them.
