Description:

Lee Speed .375x2.5 NOTE, not a .375 H&H Magnum, website did not allow me to show as .375 x 2.5" H&H Flanged .
This is from the collection of the late Mr Neil Speed, a well known collector in Vict and a relative of Joseph Speed.
This is a unique piece of lee Speed history. It is not an original .375 (the BSA logo on the butt socket Indicates that this rifle started life as an early Lee Speed No 2 pattern lee Speed.) . The barrel was worn out so (I am told) Mr Neil Speed had the barrel bored out and chambered to .375x2.5 inch by Sprinter Arms in SA. Hence why the bore looks so new.
It is very accurate and shoots to point of aim with the 270 grain Woodleighs that come with it. Mr Speed used an original .303 magazine but it only feeds 2 or 3 rounds . I had a SA craftsman build a .375 replica magazine from a NOS mk1 no 111 mag and he did an amazing job. it feeds 4 rounds . (its the mag in the photo's.)
remarkable condition for age and all ready to hunt, shoot in BGRC or just enjoy.
The rifle comes with a set of CH4D dies, 79 Bertram cases (39 loaded if picked up. and 40 new unused, ($120 per 20 is current price) some projectiles and a canvas slip, and loading data. Can supply additional photos if you are genuinely interested. Note a correct .375 recently sold in London for Aust $7,200 (inc auction fees) and from personal experience I can safely say it would cost well in excess of asking price to build a replica from scratch. genuine reason for this very regrettable sale.
