Description:

On offer is an AIA M10A1 rifle chambered in 7.62×39 that’s in truly excellent / original condition and with a factory-fitted and integral Picatinny type mounting rail.
The M10 line of bolt action rifles was developed in Australia by ‘Australian International Arms’, a small company that dedicated itself to the production of quality rifles for civilian use.
AIA’s initial intent was to produce a bolt-action rifle capable of accepting high capacity, detachable magazines. Starting with the time-proven design of the famous SMLE No.4 Mk.2 rifles of British origin, AIA engineers developed a new and improved version of the venerable "Rifle, Short, Magazine, Lee-Enfield".
The AIA rifles feature all-new components machined from modern steel and quality wood. The first prototypes of the AIA improved No.4 Mk.2 rifles appeared in 1998-99 and, since then, AIA has produced several versions of the basic design, of which the most notable are the presently offered M10 rifle that’s chambered for the popular 7.62×39 M43 Russian ammunition.
AIA M10 rifles are manually operated, bolt action rifles with rotary bolt of Lee-Enfield type. Bolt design was improved by utilizing only one size of non-rotating bolt head (as opposed to the original design that relied on several sizes of bolt heads to maintain proper headspace on different rifles). The bolt is locked into a newly manufactured receiver using dual locking lugs at the rear of the bolt. Feed is from detachable box magazines and, in the offered 7.62×39 version, this M10A1 rifle will accept high capacity AK / SKK / AKM type magazines holding 20, 30 or even 40 (RPK-type) rounds.
Manual safety is of Lee-Enfield type, located on the left side of the receiver. Standard sights include an L-shaped flip-up diopter rear sight, adjustable for windage and set for 100 / 300 meters range.
The receivers is pre-machined to include the said Picatinny type rail which can be used to install various telescope sights, pro-points, laser sights, etc..
The rifle’s stock is made from teak timber.
The rifle is a solid and reliable performer and is available to most Australian shooters on either a ‘sports’ or ‘recreational’ category B licence.
The rifle is available with or without the photographed ‘scope (which ‘scope is available as an optional extra) and the rifle comes with the pictured 20 round AK / SKK / AKM type magazine. As a further optional extra, an additional 20 round magazine is available to the discerning and intuitive buyer.
Though well in excess of 30 years young, this rifle has had less than 20 rounds fired through it - but there are a couple of minor ‘gun-safe’ incurred ‘character’ marks on the metal work and stock. At the end of the day, this rifle presents as a very tidy example and will be both appreciated and prized by its lucky buyer.
