Description:

Lithgow 303 Mk III.
Has interesting markings such as HV over SC on the barrel, S. GERR on the butt, also Crown over B over N6 on the butt. Has numerous other marking on the wood, under the wood, under the rear sight and on the magazine etc. The rifle went through a FTR (factory thorough repair) in July 1947 at the Lithgow factory. Numbers forced matched during FTR.
All wood and metal parts are in excellent condition for age. The rifle shoots straight and functions flawlessly. All tolerances are spot on.
I have had an original magazine cut-off installed by a Perth gunsmith who specializes in these rifles.
Here is your chance to own and operate a piece of ANZAC history (107 yrs vintage). This military rifle was made in the land of Oz while the Aussie diggers where landing on the beeches at Gallipoli. The year of this rifle was special to me as my grandad fought in Somme in 1916 while his brother was killed in action in 1915. This is what they would have carried into action as young soldiers. This will make a great service rifle and/or one for the collectors.
Included with the rifle is the sling, oil bottle, pull-through, stripper clips, Department of Defence’s parts, assembly diagrams, gun sock and some ammo if collected locally.
Additional items for sale if interested; 1916 Sanderson bayonet (plus others), Kings issued MUES peep sight (with correct screws) old army issued knife WW2, shaving razor WW1.
