This MUES target rifle aperture sight was originally made to fit the British "Long Tom" M.L.E. type .303 rifles. It dates to the very earliest days of the 20th century I believe. Unlike many, this sight is not designed to fold up. This feature makes the sight much more rigid in design & therefore more precise for accurate shooting, though the sight would need to be removed to enable the use of the rifle's regular open sights should one wish to do so. Removal (or refitting) is an easy & speedy task, only requiring a correctly fitting screwdriver.
Fully click-adjustable from 200 to 1,200 yards for elevation & has a very broad windage adjustment range as well.
An advanced feature found on this sight, but not on earlier versions, is the re-indexable elevation scale plate to aid in correct range zeroing.
This particular sight has had its base neatly altered to place the sight further forward away from hitting the shooter's eyebrow. Some later sights were supplied this way from the factory.
This sight replaces the original issued "ultra long-range volley sight" fitted as standard in the day for military use.
This sight has been fully cleaned, oiled & checked over for proper function.
