Description:

This French 12ga started out as a model 1853 'Chasseurs' percussion carbine with an 18mm rifled bore, it was then converted to a breech loading carbine in 1876 using a snider style action and firing the 17.8mm Tabatière rifle cartridge.

In the late 1800's it was converted to 12ga in Belgium, given a smooth bore, renamed 'the farmer' and sold as a cheap 12ga here in Aus.

This shotgun is strictly blackpowder only, I'm told they are pretty rare purely because so many were destroyed when smokeless powders became available. it has a 28" barrel and the bore is in good shootable condition with some light pitting

very cool old shotgun with a lot of history to read about
