Description:

Is your British MLE "Long Tom" .303 ex-service rifle missing its rear pivoting volley sight?

In its day .... here was the ultimate answer to long-range shooting performance with the "Long Tom" .303.

This BSA made target sight may prove to be a useful option for you as it incorporates the volley sight into its design, as well as providing a handy, accurately adjustable, fold-away target aperture sight for doing precision long-range shooting. This sight is designed to take the place of the original fold-down volley sight and fits onto the rifle in the same manner as the original volley sight. NO mounting plate, bracket or special screws are required. The sharp vee-lugs beneath the dumbbell spring positively locate the sight in either its raised or lowered position.

The rifle's standard open sights can be accessed and used as normal when the aperture sight is folded/pivoted to one side.

This sight is in extremely good condition for its age and is in full working order, having been recently thoroughly cleaned and re-oiled. The sight's windage arm folds up and the whole sight pivots to lay down beside the receiver when not required. It sits within the original volley sight wood inlet .... not alterations to the rifle are required to fit this sight.

I have pictured this sight fitted to a bare receiver to help show how it fits on. The sight is designed to lean forward to compensate for the upward pointing attitude of the rifle when used for long-range shooting.

NB. Pictured receiver NOT for sale.
Dumbbell spring and screws (2) NOT included in this offer but can be suppled as a set for a fee of $55-00 extra.

Asking price INCLUDES insured postage to all Eastern & Central Australian states.
